Unit Summary In this class, students will be introduced to basic and intermediate ballet terminology. Allowing them to build a strong foundation in regards to their knowledge of ballet this will then allow them to properly execute movements and techniques asked of them in higher level classes. Lauren - My ideal studio would be in an isolated area with lots of surrounding nature. I'd like to have windows filling each room so student may feel as though they are outside and connected to the world around them. I would want to only have one wall with mirrors in each studio. While it can be beneficial to see the position of your body and your classmates, I also believe it is important to focus less on the physical appearance and more on the emotional expression. During classes, I would like to spend a lot of time working on improv and would encourage students to face away from the mirror. I believe this would facilitate more exploration of the body and movement without fear of "looking silly." I'd also like my student to have a rooftop meditation area where students could go to relax and relieve their stress before or after class.
